Eva Nell Whatley, 75, of Salem, AL passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Vance Memorial Chapel at 1 p.m. with Rev. Rodney Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow later at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Vance Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Whatley was born February 7, 1943 to Willie Edward Marler and Valmer Lee Nolan Marler. She worked for 34 years at Sunshine Biscuit/Kellogs and really loved her family. Her real joy in life came from caring for and loving her husband, children, grands and great-grands.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James “Jimmy” Whatley, Sr.; children, Nancy Renee Whatley and James David Whatley, Jr and his wife Susan; grandchildren, Danielle Gentry (Josh), Shelby Lavender, Joshua Dawson, Christy Duke (Ryan)Lorie Whatley and Jessie Reichle (Chris); great-grandchildren, Hudson Gentry, Kason Eiland, Zaralee Dawson, Patrick Wright, Jacob Wright, Landon Affleck, Jaden Reichle, Jordan Reichle and Corbin Reichle; sisters, Mary Baker and Doris Shannon; brother, Coston Marler (Deb); several nephews, nieces, other extended family and caring friends.
