Evelyn "Granny" Mount

Evelyn “Granny” Raley Mount, 88, of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 in the comfort of Phenix City Healthcare.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EST Friday, December 2, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.

Evelyn was one of three girls born April 23, 1928 in Troy, AL to the late Zollie Robert Raley and Mary Alice Davis Raley. Evelyn and her sisters, Edna and Ethel all became sick at about nine months of age with pneumonia. Evelyn was the lone survivor. She overcame another illness that should have claimed her by 18 but she ended her life outliving all of her siblings. Evelyn loved her family, taking great joy in spending time with her grands and great-grands. She also enjoyed cooking and fishing and worked for the Medical Center for many years. She also loved working for One Stop Pet Shop, where she enjoyed taking care of all the animals. She enjoyed the company of her bird Monk most and he enjoyed her company as well. Beallwood Baptist was her home church.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Joe Carroll Mount; siblings, Conrad, Lillian, Lucille, Edna, Ethel and Sybil.

She is survived by her children, Robert Mount of Oshkosh, WI, Jerry Mount of Phenix City and Norma Mount of Phenix City; grandchildren, Stevie Mount, Maria Mount, David Mount, Jeremy Mount (Leighann) and Joey Marchant (Danyell); great-grandchildren, Mikey, Christopher, Tiffany and Carley Mount, Aydin, Sierra and Briella Mount, Camden Mount, and Fox and Aeryane Marchant; her companion (bird) Monk; several extended family members, and many caring friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Helping hands Ministry or Lottie Moon Ministries through Beallwood Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank the staff at Phenix City Healthcare for their love and care they have shown.
