Evelyn Thompson Goins

Evelyn Thompson Goins, 82, of Fortson, GA passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at her residence.

Evelyn was born on March 10, 1940 in Maryville, TN to Hubert Thompson and Hazel Blevins Patty. Throughout her life, she was blessed with a servant’s heart and a sincere desire to help others. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Goins, and together they started a life-long adventure and a beautiful family. Evelyn was a dedicated wife and mother, and, as the years passed, her family grew to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she absolutely adored. Evelyn was a faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, and in her pastime, she enjoyed working in the yard and reading.

Other than her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her spouse of 60 years Kenneth L. Goins, sister Olvaleen Patty, and brother Hubert Thompson, Jr. Survivors include her daughter Wanda (Nelson) Shaffer; son Kenneth Scott (Pam) Goins; sisters Betty Godwin, Wanda Gallahar, and Dorothy Shipwash; brother Ben Thompson; grandchildren Alicia Romanishan, Jimmie (Sam) Tice III, Holley (Tim) Ray, and Andrew (Shelby) Goins; and four great-grandchildren Braedyn, Alivia, Colton and Jaxson
