Faye Ryan Spaw, 86, of Phenix City, AL, passed away early Saturday morning, May 2, 2015 in the comfort of her home. Funeral services will be held 12:30 pm EDT Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at the funeral home. Mrs. Spaw was born February 4, 1929 in Mintonville, KY to the late Sherman Ryan and Nancy Wilson Ryan. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was deeply devoted to her family. She enjoyed gardening, playing card games, traveling, and family time. She was a member of White Rock Freewill Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Vencie C. “Sam” Spaw, a sister, Fern Swartz and a brother, Edwin Ryan. She is survived by, two daughters Bernadine “Dee” Sponaugle of Phenix city, AL, and Brenda McGee of Phenix City; son, David C. Spaw and wife Melody of Salem, AL; (5) grandchildren, Kenneth Sponaugle, Kim Engrisch, John Sponaugle, Jr., Kelly Loza and Nicole Spaw; (4) great-grandchildren, Michael, Kevin, Kenneth, Jr., and Marissa, (4) great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
