Fletcher Findlater, 75, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST, on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Epworth United Methodist Church, with Rev. Grant Parker officiating. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm EST at the funeral home.
Mr. Findlater was born November 11, 1941 in Columbus, GA, son of the late George F. Findlater and Hilda Boland Findlater . He worked as an independent grocer for over 30 years. Mr. Findlater served in both the United States Army and the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Phenix City Jaycees, the Rusco Club, Sertoma, the first Economic Development Board in Phenix City and was still a member of the Phenix Girard Board of Directors. Additionally, Mr. Findlater was a long time member of Epworth United Methodist Church, where he served on the Administrative Board, the Building Committee and chaired the Finance Committee for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Ann Almon Findlater of Phenix City, AL; two sons, John Findlater and wife Linda of Phenix City, AL and Jim Findlater and wife Amy of Phenix City, AL ; grandchildren, Tyler Findlater and Ann Marie Findlater; several extended family members, church family and many caring friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Epworth United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 58, Phenix City, AL 36868-0058.
