Flint Eugene Sharpe, 55, of Smiths Station, AL passed away in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, September 12, 2016 in Columbus, GA.
A celebration of life home going service will be held 11:00 am EST Friday, September 16, 2016 at Golden Acres Baptist Church in Phenix City with Dr. Ray Cummings officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm EST at Golden Acres Baptist Church.
Flint was born August 12, 1961 in Phenix City, Alabama to Faye Harden Hatcher and Gene Sharpe. He was employed with US Foods in Columbus, GA and had 30 years of dedicated and loyal service. He was a graduate of Glenwood High School where he had the honor to coach for a couple of years. He attended and played baseball at CVCC and CSU and graduated from Troy State University. Flint was a lover of the Lord and loved people. He was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church and had a passion for the Upwards Basketball Program and told many stories associated with Upwards Basketball. He taught Sunday School and enjoyed all activities associated with his church. He has lived all his life for this moment and now is in Heaven celebrating with his Lord and Savior, he will be greatly missed, but always loved and remembered. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Grover and Catherine Sharpe, and Austin and Ruby Harden.
He is survived by his mother, Faye Harden Hatcher, father, Gene Sharpe and wife Dianne, his beautiful bride of 28 years, Lee Pope Sharpe, son, Chandler Sharpe, daughter, Cassidy Sharpe, one sister, Keeli Floyd and husband Chuck, two brothers, Kevin Sharpe and wife Cathy, and Will Sharpe and wife Kelli, step-brothers, Harvey Hatcher and Chuck Hatcher, and step-sister, Jerry Faye Hatcher, father and mother-in-law, Maurice and Ruth Pope, brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy and Jan Horne, and Troy and Kellie Pope; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many, many caring friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to the Upwards Basketball Program or Church Missions in care of Golden Acres Baptist Church 3405 South Railroad Street Phenix City, AL 36867. Online condolences may be made at www.vancememorialchapel.net
