Frank Donald Parsons, Sr., 94, of Smiths Station, AL passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2023, in the comfort of his home in Smiths Station with his family by his side.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 pm EDT on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Tommy Parsons officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home in Phenix City.
Mr. Parsons was born March 24, 1929, in Phenix City, AL, son of the late James T. “Tom” Parsons and Warnie Hortense Patrick Parsons. He had worked as a carpenter with Culpepper Contracting for many years and then later had the opportunity to work in the same field with Civil Service at Fort Benning, GA, retiring after 15 years. He was a man of great character who had a passion of love and dedication for all his family. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing all sorts of board games, and was especially known for playing the wicked game of Dominoes. He was a Christian and a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church in Phenix City.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Frances Pearl Addison Parsons; three sisters, Hazel Duck, Claudia Newsome, and Betty Harper; four brothers, Roy Parsons, Homer Parsons, Haywood Parsons and Walter Parsons; and one grandson, Wesley Charles Ray.
He is survived by his four children, Frank Donald Parsons, Jr. (Terry), James William Parsons, Frances Donna Glover (William) and Connie Cornelia Trawick (Walter); sister, Mary Harper; nine grandchildren, Shannon Gunter (Ken), Roxanne Hertzog (Rich), Brandon Glover (Alisha), Gillan Pate (Mike), Stephanie Highnote, Jessica Parsons, James William ”Will” Parsons, Jr., David Adison Parsons (Sabrina) and Kimberly Denise Hatcher (Brian); 18 great-grandchildren and seven precious great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A very special love of appreciation is expressed for two of his granddaughters, Stephanie Highnote and Shannon Gunter, who have been his caregivers. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions in memory of Mr. Frank Danald Parsons, Sr. to be made to Gentiva Hospice in Phenix City.
