Frank Robert Smith

Frank Robert Smith, 79, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, in Columbus, GA.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am EST, on Friday, February 24, 2017, at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Thursday at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City

Mr. Smith was born on August 1, 1937, in Cairo, GA to the late Ralph Smith and Minnie Kinney Smith. He worked civil service at Ft. Benning for over 35 years and over 38 years of service in the Alabama National Guard, 900 Maintenance Division and retired as an E7.

Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Joan Atkinson Smith; brother, Wayne Smith and sister Mary Flowers.

He is survived by two sons, Gregory F. Smith and wife Candi and Joel R. Smith; grandchildren, Ethan D. Smith (fiancée Stacy Miller) and Dakota R. Smith; several nieces and nephews and many caring friends.
