Freda Williamson Boswell

March 22, 1929 — November 14, 2020

As the new day’s dawn broke on Saturday, November 14th, 2020 Freda Boswell, 91, was called to her eternal home. A moment that she had long looked forward to had finally arrived, and we know upon drawing her final breath on this Earth, she immediately heard, “Well done my good and faithful servant”
Due to Covid safety concerns, a private family service will be held at 3:00 PM (EST) on Friday, November 20, 2020 and may be viewed via live stream by visiting www.vancebrooksfuneralhome.net, going to Mrs. Boswell’s obit and clicking on the red “Watch” button.
The family recognizes Freda’s long standing presence in the lives of many and would like to offer a public visitation which will be held on Thursday from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM (EST) at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.
Freda was born March 22, 1929 in Quitman County, GA, daughter of the late Andrew Jones and Bobbie Jones.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edwin “Buddy” Boswell and her treasured sisters, Nell Thompson and Mary Hammitt.
Survivors include her son (her pride and joy) and his wife, Jeffrey and Ronda Boswell of Decatur, AL; Two granddaughters, Megan Bell and husband Dr. Gus W. Bell of Wetumpka, AL; Shanna Davis and husband Nick Davis of Kansas City, MO; Three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Opal and Shepherd. One niece, Fay Brock of Riverdale, GA and one nephew, Dan Hightower of Lexington, NC.
She graduated from Georgetown High School in Georgetown, GA and Andrew College in Cuthbert, GA.
Freda retired from Gulf Life Insurance Company of Columbus, GA after 40 years of service.
Mrs. Boswell loved the Lord and spent every moment of her life trying to encourage others and guide them toward her Savior. She worked with youth, visited nursing homes and loved doing things for others. She truly had a servant’s heart. She radiated light to all in her presence and people would go out of their way to spend treasured moments with her, learning from her faith and wisdom.
Before moving to The Terrace Assisted Living in Priceville, Alabama she was an active member of the Landmark Church of the Nazarene, in Phenix City, AL. While in Priceville she attended the assisted living services from Summerville Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Landmark Church of the Nazarene, Missions Fund, 270 Lee Road 456, Phenix City, AL 36867, a cause near to her heart.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Terrace Assisted Living staff, and Hospice of the Valley, for their kindness and compassion, especially in her final days.
