Frederick Groff Franciscus, Jr.

Frederick Groff Franciscus, Jr. went to be with his Lord September 8, 2015 at Columbus Hospice Midtown Medical surrounded by his family.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Seale Road Baptist Church with Pastor R.G. Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday the 9th from 4 until 6 at Vance Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Franciscus was born March 13, 1936 to the late Frederick Groff Franciscus, Sr. and Mildred Johnson Franciscus in Baltimore, Maryland. He proudly served his country in the US Army doing tours in both Korea and Vietnam. Fred’s greatest loves in life were his family, which included his church family. A longtime member of Seale Road Baptist Church, Fred shared his talents by playing piano and later the clavinova. All who heard him play will say his musical ability was a special gift from God. His love of music carried over into jazz which he played on the Dixieland Riverboat. He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves.

Other than his parents, he is preceded by a son, L. Scott Franciscus(Yates).

Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Melody Faith (Rogers) Franciscus; children, Laura Bernard (Glenn) of New Hampshire and son, Matthew Franciscus of Phenix City; grandchildren, Michael Cassavaugh, Marissa Charest (Barry), Jordin Franciscus, Matthew, Kevin, David and Michelle Yates; great-grandchildren, Julia, Carter, Kaitlyn and Elizabeth Charest.
