MSG (ret) Marion Thomas Langley, 92, of Salem, AL passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 at his home.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Chris Webb and Rev. Tommy Poole officiating. A private interment will be held following the service at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Langley was born December 10, 1927, in Hot Springs County, AR, son of the late Survetus T. Langley and Emma Elizabeth Loyd Langley. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he retired with over 21 years of service. During his tenure with the US Army, he served as a medic in both Korea and Vietnam. After his service in the military, he worked as a barber until retirement. Mr. Langley enjoyed being outdoors, both hunting and fishing. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Opal Langley; two sisters, Inez Gaither and MaryBelle Halpain; and one brother, Kinton J. Langley.
Mr. Langley is survived by a daughter Sherryl Barrow and husband Harold of Salem, AL; a son, Dana Reid Langley and wife Audrey of Derry, NH; one sister, Lillie Linkous of Camden, AR; one brother, George Langley and wife Faye of Seale, AL; grandchildren, Matthew T. Langley (Kim), Gordon Langley (Christina), Theresa Langley, Kasey Keown (Jon), Caleb Barrow (Bekah) and Keri Barrow; great-grandchildren, Jared, Cameron, Mackenzie, Jackson and Harrison Langley and Ava and Eden Keown ; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
