Gary Hunt Waters, 71, Columbus, GA, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015 beginning at 11:30 A.M. EST at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell Main Post Cemetery. Reverend Kenneth Savage will be officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. EST at the funeral home. Gary Hunt Waters was born March 9, 1943 in Delta, Pennsylvania, son of the late James Waters and Hazel Lowe Waters. Gary grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, where he attended Dundalk High School. After graduating, Gary joined the United States Army. His military career brought him to Fort Benning, Georgia, where he married the love of his life, Ida May Waters, on May 28, 1964. Gary was currently employed with Exide Technologies and Legacy Automotive Group, with over 37 years of dedicated service. Gary had an exceptional work ethic that surpassed all others in the world. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Other than his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his brother, James Waters and sister, Sonja Waters. Survivors include, his loving wife of 50 years, Ida May Waters; children, Wiley Jeffery Waters (Lisa), Stephen Gary Waters (Denise), Angel Waters Palmer (Eric), Kelley “Chichi” Taylor (Bayard), and Kimmie Waters; sisters, Chichi Sharon Banks, Christina Maria Waters, and Jacqueline Dawn Waters; grandchildren, Kyle Joseph Williams (Amber), Tyler James Wilson, Whitney Victoria Enix (Travis), Autumn Sinclair Palmer, Wiley Jeffery Waters, II “Lil J”, and Bayard Angel Taylor, II “Bayardcito”; great-grandchildren, Kyle Joseph Williams, II “Lil Kyle”, and any day now, Kinsey Brooke Williams. Gary Hunt Waters will forever be remembered as a husband, a dad, a legacy.
