Gedney “Dusty” Miller, Jr., 96, of Columbus, GA passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital. Memorial services will be held at East Highland Church, 1301 17th St, Columbus, GA on Sunday, November 5, 2023 beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor Mark Sasser officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
Dusty was born on November 10, 1926 in Chattanooga, TN to the late Gedney Watson Miller and Minnie Roberts Miller. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during which time he became a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Dusty enjoyed being in the great outdoors, especially working in his yard, camping, and the mountains. He was a HAM operator and owned a local CB shop which specialized in CB sales and service. Dusty liked to watch old classic western movies, enjoyed model railroading, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a member of East Highland Church.
Without a doubt, Dusty truly loved and cared for his family, including his pets. His family remembers him as a loving husband and father who “would tell you like it is”. Although he will be greatly missed, he will forever hold a very special place in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love him.
Dusty is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 37 years, Betty Miller; daughter Emilie Davis and husband Walt of Huntersville, NC; sons Gedney W. Miller, III of Columbus, GA and Shayne H. Miller and wife Wendy of Fort Mill, SC; stepdaughters Jennifer Cantero and Crystal Henson, both of Columbus, GA; stepson Noel Moore of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren Faith Stilwell, Joshua Davis, Grace Welch, Stephanie Nelson, Ariel Baron, Thomas Prince, Jessica Henson, Phillip Smith, Zachary Miller, and Katelyn Cubero; 20 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Nelson, Ariel Baron, Thomas Prince, Jessica Henson, and Phillip Smith; 19 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
