George was born on August 15, 1948 in Great Lakes, Illinois to parents George Jury Jr. and Laura Belle Smith Jury. Starting as a Deputy Sheriff at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, he served his community with pride and dedication. Upon retiring from the Sheriff's Department, he continued to contribute his expertise as a foreman at Couch Construction/Apac and then later at Columbus Water Works. His strong work ethic and commitment earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and friends alike.
Known for his vibrant personality, George was funny, kind-hearted, and always full of life. His storytelling skills were legendary; each tale more amusing and elaborate than the last. He found joy in sharing these wild stories with everyone around him, spreading laughter wherever he went.
Outside of work, George had many activities. He loved to fish and play poker, and also enjoyed watching Nascar and UFC and playing video games. His favorite pastime, however, was riding motorcycles; specifically, Harley Davidsons—a passion that ignited his spirit like no other.
Though he accomplished so much throughout his life, by far his proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren whom he cherished above all else. George's devotion to his family was unwavering, and they truly meant the world to him.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sisters Laura Jean Sharrock and Patty Kilpatrick and his father-in-law Tommy Hanchey.
George leaves behind his devoted wife of 21 years, Brenda Milner Jury, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He is also survived by his sons Bruce Jury of Phenix City, Alabama, David Jury and his wife Deanna of Hamilton, Georgia; daughters Michelle Riordan and her husband Steve of Denver, Colorado, and Dixie Boone and her wife Abby of Columbus, Georgia; mother-in-law Carol Hanchy; His memory will forever live on through his grandchildren: Danny, Amy, Matthew, Kaitlin, Mason, Sophie, Bryson, Dylan, Benjamin, and Rebecca, and his brand new great-granddaughter Scarlett. George also leaves behind his brother David Jury in Ojai, California and sister Carol Knutson of Denver, Colorado, along with a host of relatives friends who will continue to honor and cherish memories made together. In addition to his immediate family members are surviving friends who were like family to George - Jr. Damren, Nester Diaz, Murali and Vjay Gomadam; his buddy from Columbus Water Works Amy Gambler-Coker; long-time buddy and fellow Harley rider Ray Fowler; and Lola - his beloved French Bulldog who was always by his side.
