George Andrew Langley

George Andrew Langley of Seale, AL, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the age of 89. A visitation will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N, Phenix City, AL 36867, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 6:00-8:00 pm EST. A private burial will take place at a later date.

George Langley was born in Camden, Arkansas on March 24, 1936, to the late Emma Elizabeth Langley and Survetus T. Langley. He has made his home in Alabama since 1963 when he married his wife and partner in life, Faye Langley. He was a devoted husband to Faye, devoted father to son Andy (Michelle) Langley and daughter Denise (Dwayne) Shields, who preceded him in death in January 2024. After coming to Alabama from Arkansas in 1968, he started work with Southern Phenix Textiles. He retired from there in 1999 after 31 years then worked another ten years for V2 Composites, Auburn, AL, until 2009. George and his brother, Tommy Langley, enjoyed many days of fishing. Brother Tommy went home to the Lord in 2021, and they are now enjoying fishing together again.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Elizabeth Langley and Survetus T. Langley; daughter, Linda Denise Shields; and five siblings, Kinton J. Langley, Marion Thomas Langley, Mary Bell Halpain, Inez Gaither, and Lily Linkous.

George is survived by his wife, Faye Langley; son, Andy Langley (Michelle); grandchildren, Dawn Shields Parsons (Kimberly), Jerry Dwayne “JD” Shields, Danielle Duke (Nick), George Shields (Caileen) and Katie Langley; and great-grandchildren, Olivia Duke, Gwendolyn “Gwen” Duke, Hallie Duke, Reegan Payne, and Everette “Rett” Shields; a very caring niece Sherryl and nephew Harold Barrow; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
