Geraldine Joyce Phillips

Geraldine Joyce Phillips, 82, of Columbus, GA. passed away Tuesday, February 02, 2016 at The Orchard View Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.  A Funeral service will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Friday, February 05, 2016 beginning at 2:30 PM EST, with the Reverend Udell Addison  officiating.  A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday, February 05, 2016 at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. EST.  

Geraldine was born July 22, 1933 in Columbus, GA to the late Reverend John Walker and Mary Fincher Miller.  She was an organist for Glenn Anthony Baptist Church and would often play for Vance-Brooks Funeral Home and Vance Memorial Chapel.  She also worked as a unit secretary at St. Francis Hospital.   

Other than her parents, Geraldine is predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Joe C. Phillips, a son, Gary Joe Phillips, and a brother, Bobby Miller.

Survivors include a son, Randy Phillips (Janet) of Cataula, GA; a daughter, Gayla Ahlquist (Folke) of Midland, GA; grandchildren:  Alicia Rich (Richie) of Phenix City, AL; Jason Ahlquist (Kasey) of Midland, GA; Cody Phillips of Cataula, GA; great grandchildren:  Jackson, Morgan and Harrison Rich; a sister, Jackie Frank (Bill) of Knoxville, TN; a brother, Ron Miller (Karen) of Cataula; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Flowers will be accepted and those choosing may make a contribution to Columbus Hospice.
