Geraldine Wynn, age 86, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Columbus Hospice House. Memorial services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, 5 p.m. with Reverend (Dr.) Johnny Ellison officiating. The family will receive friends after the funeral service until 7 p.m.
Mrs. Wynn, daughter of the late George Lee Smith and Eloise Gibson Mann, was born December 1, 1933 in Dothan, Alabama. She was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. Mrs. Wynn was a member of the Phenix City Shrine Club and enjoyed dancing and trips to the beach. She loved spending quality time with her family, particularly the grandchildren. Mrs. Wynn enjoyed listening to both gospel and country music. She always looked forward to baking and cooking for her family and friends. The family remembers her as a lady who was sweet and kind, and never judgmental.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Wynn was preceded in death by her husband Fred L. Wynn, Sr; grandson, Gabriel Lamar Wynn; and granddaughter, Megan Leigh Phillips. She is survived by her daughter, Genene Phillips and her husband David of Phenix City; two sons, Fred Lamar Wynn and his wife Vicki of Phenix City and Charles L. Wynn and Tamyra Haggard also of Phenix City; one sister, Helen Chaffee of Lakeland, Florida; her longtime companion, James R. Bynum of Phenix City; seven grandchildren, Lance Lee, Sommer Wynn Jones and her husband Corey, Stacy Johnson and her husband Justin, Josh Davis, Allen Betsill, Wesley Betsill, and Valerie Sherrer and her husband George; nine great-grandchildren, Landon Phillips, Payton Jones, Carter Singletary, Olivia Johnson, Troy Phillips, Brennan Betsill, Evelyn Betsill, Jayce Davis, and John Clark Davis; many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Phenix City Shrine, 1911 Opelika Road, Phenix City, Alabama 36867.
