Gertrude Katharina Talbot

Gertrude Katharina Talbot, 71, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Medical Center here in Columbus, GA. A graveside service will be on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 3 P.M. at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 7, 2012 from 1-2:30 P.M. at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home.Gertrude was born on August 18, 1941 in Aschaffenburg, Germany to the late George Zimmerman and Julianna Loffel. Gertrude was a crossing guard for Fort Middle School here in Columbus, GA for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Theodore Talbot, Jr. and her son Roy W. Talbot. Survivors include her two daughters, Monica Rechkemmer (David) of Columbus, GA; Tammy Poteet (Bryan) of Acworth , GA; son Alfred Talbot of Waverly Hall, GA; sisters Irma Van Noy of Columbus, GA; Erna Dyroff of Germany; two brothers, Willie and Fritz Zimmerman both from Germany; several grandchildren: Amber Berg (Brandon); Christopher Brookins (Marissa); Daniel Poteet (Brooke); Sara Bell (Russell); Matthew Talbot; Rebecka Poteet and one great grandson William Curlee. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, St. Jude Children's Research and American Cancer Society.
