Glaydys Louise Owens

Gladys Owens, 80, of Phenix City, AL, passed away, Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House. Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, September 28, 2013 beginning at 10:00 A.M. EST at Parkhill Cemetery, with Pastor Hank Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, September 27, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. EST at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA.

Gladys Owens was born December 19, 1932, daughter of the late Mikel Clinton Varnum and Mary Oriska Varnum, in Henry County, AL. Gladys, dedicated her life to raising her ten children, and enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren and family, Gladys enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers.

Gladys is preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 61 years Ivey Owens and their son, Jimmy Owens.

Gladys Owens is survived by, four daughters and their spouses, Virginia and Paul Allen of Phenix City AL, Sherry and Gary Harrison of Bryon, GA, Dorothy and Scott Olsen of Sandy, UT, Shelia and Daniel Moore of Pasco, WA; five sons and their spouses, James Ivey “Buddy” Owens of Columbus, GA, Billy and Judy Owens of Phenix City, AL , Donnie and Tammy Owens, of Newnan, GA, Jack Owens of Columbus, GA, Mike Owens, of Phenix City, AL; twenty- one grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
