Glenda Catherine Jones

Glenda Catherine Wilks Jones, 86, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, October 24, 2024 at her son’s home. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 28, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Vance Brooks Funeral Home Macon Road Chapel. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the funeral. 

Mrs. Jones was born August 19, 1938 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late James Russell Wilks and Ressie Kelley Wilks. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Woodrow Jones, two brothers Lamer Wilks and Wayne Wilks, and a sister Wanda Embry. Survivors include her three sons, Robert Woodrow Bobby Jones and Russell Glenn Jones, both of Columbus, Georgia, and Roger Hugh Jones (Nancy) of West Palm Beach, Florida; two granddaughters, Ansley Murphy and Sunni Jones, three grandsons, Hughston Jones, John Robert Armstrong, and Jeremy Armstrong; four sisters, Lavonda Wilks Forbes, Nancy Beach, Lydia Wilks-Williams, and Donna Hoerter; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

For many years, she worked for Sunshine Biscuit Company. In her spare time, she made beautiful birthday, shower, and wedding cakes for her friends and family. She loved her three boys almost as much as she loved her Atlanta Braves.
