Glenda “Kay” Wells

Glenda “Kay” Wells (Davidson), 78, passed away on December 22, 2022. Funeral services will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Thursday, January 5, 2023 beginning at 4:00 PM. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus, GA. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.

Kay was born on February 20,1944 in Harrison, Arkansas to Glen and Evon (Greenhaw) Davidson. She lived in Harrison until marrying her husband, William “Bill” Joe Wells, on August 24, 1963. Kay and Bill had four children: William “Billy” Wells (New York, NY), Kenny Wells (Columbus, GA), Rebecca Eddins (Steve) (Fortson, GA), and David Wells (Ashville, NC). Kay was preceded in death by her parents and great-granddaughter Wrenly Kay Bedingfield. She is survived by her husband, sister Mary Dennis, four children, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins residing in northwest Arkansas.

Kay was well known in Harrison for her love of music, love for the Lord, and often singing at her church, Pine Street Missionary Baptist, and at local events. She attended Ouachita Baptist University with a major in voice and piano. After marrying her husband, she left Harrison to support Bill’s careers in the U.S. Army and construction whereafter they settled in Columbus, Georgia.

Kay owned and operated Kay’s Frame and Gallery. She was a supportive military spouse, often hosting events for other military wives and singing in a military wives’ choir. She continued to play music and sing throughout her life and traveled extensively. Kay had a deep love for the Caribbean where she and her husband loved to scuba dive until their health would no longer allow it. Kay lost her struggle with Alzheimers, eventually passing due to complications of her condition. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
