Glenda Norton Arrowsmith

Glenda Arrowsmith, 80, of Phenix City, Alabama, entered into rest on Friday, March 24, 2023, at her residence, with her family by her side.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. EST, Sunday, March 26, 2023, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, located at 3738 U.S. 431 North, Phenix City, Alabama, 36867 with Pastor Jerry Sauls officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Arrowsmith was born in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Otto Pearl Norton and Elma Ruth Sale Norton. While attending high school in Memphis, she met the love of her life “Buddy” Arrowsmith. They later married and his employment moved them to the Phenix City, Alabama area where they chose to raise their family. Mrs. Arrowsmith was employed by Raymond Rowe Furniture for almost twenty-five years. She had a natural gift for interior decorating and decorated many homes and several offices throughout the bi-city area. Mrs. Arrowsmith enjoyed gardening and working with children. She had been a Sunday School teacher for over twenty years. She often could be found assisting the children at local schools with arts and crafts and reading to them. Mrs. Arrowsmith was also known for her baking abilities with her most popular dessert being divinity, which she shared with many friends and family. In the evenings, Mrs. Arrowsmith could be found walking in the yard and harvesting pecans. She would share these pecans with her neighbors and would also bake pecan pies, much to their delight. Above all, she loved her family and enjoyed the time she was able to spend with them.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Arrowsmith was preceded in death by a sister Sadie Norton and a granddaughter Ashley Arrowsmith.

Those left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of fifty eight years “Buddy” Arrowsmith; daughter Jennifer Oliver (Chris) of Cataula, GA; sons Darren Arrowsmith (Dana) of Pine Mountain, GA and Patrick Arrowsmith (Rubylyn) of the Philippines; sisters Joyce Tapp (Tom) of Sommerville, TN and Wanda Norton of Robinsonville, MS; grandchildren Joshua Arrowsmith (Olivia), Matthew Arrowsmith (Valerie), Chelsea Arrowsmith, Rachel Oliver and Jordan Oliver and great-grandchildren Kayleb, Marley, Edith and Reagan.
