Mr. Forbes was born January 06, 1958 in Eufaula, AL son of the late Glenn Harrison Forbes and Elizabeth Ann Spurlock Forbes. Russell was a member of Pittsview United Methodist Church and worked at West Rock in the Maintenance Dept. He was a “Jack of All Trades” with the ability to repair or build almost anything. Russell always had a project going on at his farm. He never seemed to grow tired, especially when working with the land and his cattle. Russell loved Pittsview and never lived more than a mile from his childhood home. He will be remembered for his love of family and the community. Along with his sense of humor no matter what was happening around him. He was also a friend to many, placing no boundaries on helping them at any time. We will miss him in our daily routine, but the solid foundation he built will last for generations.
Mr. Forbes was preceded in death by his parents and a special paternal grandmother, Marie Duncan Forbes Coles.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Melinda McDaniel Forbes, Pittsview, AL; four children, Tara Forbes, Amanda Dickens (Chris), Brianna Phillips (Michael) and Tyler Forbes; four sisters, Lisa Anderson (Delbert), GiGi Renae Duey (Dwain), Amanda Kenny (Sean) and Kristy Forbes; five precious grandchildren, Blaine Dickens, Mary Callen Dickens, Jordan Phillips, Jase Phillips and Charlotte Dickens; several nieces, nephews and close friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to Pittsview United Methodist Church, 62 Leconte Street, Pittsview, AL 36871.
