Glenn David Smith

August 7, 1961 — August 17, 2024

Ft. Mitchell, AL

Glenn David “Smokey” Smith, 63, of Ft. Mitchell, AL died at St. Francis Hospital on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Oswichee Baptist Church, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at the church on Wednesday.

Mr. Smith was born August 07, 1961, in Columbus, GA son of Gladys Kite Smith and the late Herman Smith. He was a pipefitter/plumber of many years working primarily in the Atlanta, GA area. Mr. Smith was an avid NASCAR fan. He especially liked Dale Earnhart, Sr. In fact, he has a piece of one of his cars in a shadow box. While not a father himself, he cherished his niece and nephews like they were his own. Mr. Smith also had his fur babies, his cats that he adored. He was also an avid CB Radio user, thus the call name “Smoky”. He has friends all over the U.S. that he communicated with on a regular basis through his CB.

We will miss him in our daily routine, but always remember the good times we shared together with him.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his dad, Hermon Smith and a sister, Debbie Franklin.

Survivors include his mother, Gladys Smith, Ft. Mitchell, AL; two sisters, Rita Bradley (David) and Denise Cooper (Randy) all of Ft. Mitchell, AL; two nieces, Dana Guthrie and Jamie Billman; three nephews, Lonnie Bradley Kyle Franklin and Jacob Cooper; eight great-nieces and nephews; five fur babies; numerous other family members and friends.
