Golden Dorthea Starling Mcdonald

Golden Doretha Starling McDonald, 95, of Salem, AL slipped into eternity with her family by her side on Monday, August 31, 2020.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 03, 2020 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Randy Comer officiating. A private interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. McDonald was born April 25, 1925 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Porter Lindsey Starling and Lucy B. Faulk Starling. She was a homemaker and worked for some time at Twin City Casket Company. She retired from Magnolia Manor Nursing Home where she worked in Dietary serving the elderly and sharing her love. Gardening and growing flowers was a special thing she enjoyed immensely. She could grow a flower just about anywhere she wanted to. Ms. Golden also enjoyed needlepoint, singing and county music; however, her greatest joy was found in worshiping online in her church homes, River of Life, Solid Rock Church and spending time with her large family. She never met a stranger as she was blessed with the gift of hospitality, a gift she shared often and freely. We will miss her in our lives, but she has left a legacy that will continue to bless us and all who were touched by her love.
Mrs. McDonald was also preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Lelvin Wallace McDonald and a son, Richard Scott McDonald.
Survivors include her nine children, Evelyn Goodson, Wallace McDonald, Wayne McDonald (Ann), Kenneth McDonald, Johnny “John” McDonald, Joyce Chocklett (Buck), Sandra Burt (Don), David McDonald (Nelda) and her “other” daughter, Debra Lee; a sister, Peggy Joyce Hester, Shiloh, GA; daughter-in-law, Beverly McDonald; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; extended family and untold numbers of friends.
