Grace Laverne Harrell

Grace LaVerne Smith Harrell, 78, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully late Sunday night, March 4, 2018 at Kindred Hospice in Columbus, GA.

A celebration of life graveside memorial service will be held 2:30 pm EST on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Rev. Don Griffin officiating.  The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the graveside.

Mrs. Harrell was born March 24, 1939 in Weleetka, OK and was the daughter of the late John Smith and Wanda Smith.  She was the owner of R & G Ceramics and loved being involved with her profession.  Her other passion in life was spending quality time with family and especially all her grandchildren.  She was a Baptist by faith.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband SFC (Retired) Ronald Hardy Harrell, one sister, and a grandson, Matthew Harrell.  It is with honor that at the time of SFC (Retired) Ronald Hardy Harrell passing that his cremains be held in care of his bride and at the time of her passing that both cremains be buried together at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.  It is also fitting as this request takes place at present day that SFC (Retired) Ronald Hardy Harrell cremains are remembered as full Military Honors are rendered along with the remembrance celebration of Grace L. Harrell.

She is survived her son, Michael Harrell and wife April of Phenix City, AL, one precious granddaughter, Alexandria,  loved as her own family, Raymond and Nina Goble, Charles and Angela Grizzle, and Shane and Michelle Eastridge, along with a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers the request contributions for support and research for the Batten Disease Association https://bdsra.org/donate/ in memory of Mrs. Grace Harrell.  The family invites everyone to meet at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City on Friday by 1:30 pm EST to leave in procession by 2:00 pm EST to Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
