Grace Vann Sewell

Grace Rhodes Vann Sewell, 85, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Phenix City Health Care.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm EST, on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cottonwood, AL.  The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm EST at the Vance Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Sewell was born June 16, 1931 in Cottonwood, AL daughter of the late Joe and Anna Rhodes.  She worked as worked as a weaver in Bibb Mill in Columbus and later became a CNA, working at St, Francis and Cobb Hospitals.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death husband, James Dalton Vann: daughter, Jo Ellen Cathey; husband, Wesley Sewell, Sr; and two brothers, Danny Rhodes and Johnny Granville Rhodes.

She is survived by her devoted son, Steve Vann Sr. and wife Sherry; step-sons, Wesley Sewell, Jr. and wife Laura and Danny Sewell; son-in-law, Dean Cathey; grandchildren, Steve Vann, Jr. wife Amanda, Sandra Tribby husband Matt, Stacy Vann wife Danielle, Shannon Cathey and Scott Cathey; 7 great-grandchildren, Cee Jay, Taylor, Max, Nathan, Kaitlin, Carson, Cameron and many other extended family and friends.

The family also wishes to thank the staff at Phenix City Health Care for their care and compassion for Mrs. Sewell as well as a thank you to Kevin Acre and all the staff at Vance Memorial Chapel.
