Gregory Lewis "Greg" Hanson

Gregory Lewis “Greg” Hanson, 65, of Fortson, GA died at Piedmont, Midtown, Columbus, GA on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Monday, April 29, 2024 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Stephen Stroud officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael D. Hanson, Travis Boutwell, Matthew Hanson, Wade Wiggins, Chris Tillman, and James Ronnie Stroud. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour on Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hanson was born May 31, 1958 in Columbus, GA son of the late Donald Michael Hanson and Dorothy Lee Ellis Hanson. He enjoyed being on the road, having worked for Southeastern Freight Lines as a line-haul truck driver for over 25 years.

Greg loved the beach and all the family fun associated with it. He also found great joy in riding his motorcycle. It seemed there was never a bad day to ride. Greg was also an avid Georgia Football fan, much to the chagrin of his extended family (AL fans). Despite this minor difference his family was his life. He also loved Disney World and all the things related to it. Greg also made sure his favorite grandson; Lucas got to experience Disney World.

He was taken from us far sooner than we had ever expected, however he has built a solid foundation for his family to build on. We will always cherish all the good times we shared with him.

Mr. Hanson was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dorothy Hanson; a brother, Michael L. Hanson and a son, Gregory Ryan Hanson.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Stroud Hanson, Fortson, GA; a son, Michael D. Hanson (Christine); two sisters, Barbara Hanson and Marilyn Hanson Grant (Douglas); one grandson, Lucas Hanson; two brothers-in-law, Stephen Stroud (Shea) and James Ronnie Stroud; longtime friends, Wade Wiggins, Mike Bostic, Jaime and Chris Tillman; several nieces, nephews and other friends.
