H. Keith Harden, 89, of Phenix City, AL, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 14, 2024, at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 EDT Friday, May 17, 2024, at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Bobby C. Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside service.
Born on January 7, 1935, in Phenix City, AL, Mr. Harden was the son of the late Homer C. Harden and Mary Beatrice Brown Harden. He dedicated many years of service to the paper mill, dating back to the early years of Alabama Craft in Cottonton, AL. An ardent patriot, he served in the National Guard during the “Phenix City clean up,” cherished photography as a member of the Georgia Professional Photographers Association, and passionately supported the Atlanta Braves. A dedicated family man, he treasured his family above all. Mr. Harden was a Christian and a member of First Methodist Church in Phenix City.
Mr. Harden is survived by his two sons, Dennis Keith Harden and wife Amber of Phenix City, AL, and Kevin Matthew Harden of Jackson, MI; one sister, Carol Harden Olmstead of Cameron, MO; sisters-in-law, Betty J. Harden, Cassie B. Adams, and Inez Hartley and husband David; brothers-in-law, Franklin Cooper Smith, Bobby Carl Smith and wife Linda, and William Curtis Smith and wife Tracy; five grandchildren, James Keith Harden, Noah Madison Harden, Grayson Pierce Harden, Logan Wayne Harden, and Jack Dennis Harden; as well as numerous nieces and nephews extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Josephine Smith Harden, and a brother, Ronald Phillip Harden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Mr. H. Keith Harden.
