Hanna Brooke Fretwell

Hanna Brooke Fretwell, 23, of Seale, AL died on Monday, June 24, 2024, in Phenix City, AL 

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 am EDT Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in Seale Cemetery, Seale, AL with Rev. Jim Gilboy officiating to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at the funeral home in Phenix City.

Hanna was born July 15, 2000, in Phenix City, AL, daughter of Chris Cole and Tracy Ann Fretwell. She loved life and enjoyed each day to its fullest. Her life was made complete with the birth of her son, Josiah. He seemed to make the world a happier place. He was seldom not at her side as she was a very protective mother. She was the oldest grandchild of Jim and Patricia Fretwell. At her birth they started a tradition of planting a tree or fruit bearing vine in honor of each grandchild and great-grandchild. Hanna’s is a pear tree and her son, Josiah, is a purple grape vine. 

We do not understand why she was called away so soon as she still had lots of life to live and stories to create. Hanna loved sunflowers and butterflies, so every time we see a bright sunflower or a beautiful butterfly, we will remember her. We will tell stories to all her little family members, of how special she was and share a butterfly kisses with them in her memory often. Hanna enjoyed participating as a fire explorer with Fort Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department, playing softball, and loved nature and spending time in the outdoors.

She was preceded in death by a grandmother, Karen Cole

Survivors include her sweet son, Josiah; parents, Chris Cole, SC and Tracy Ann Fretwell, Seale, AL; loving grandparents, Jim and Patricia Fretwell, Seale, AL; great grandfather, Jerry James Fretwell, Sr., sibling’s, Ciera Martin (Hobi), Chandler Fretwell, Alissa Cole, Ashton Cole, and Jenson Cole, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, best friends, Marisa and Katie Parker, and many other loving and caring friends.
