Harold “Bud” Winfield Fisher Jr passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025 at his daughter’s home in Birmingham, Alabama. He was 93.
Bud was born in the Little Neck neighborhood of Long Island, New York on October 6, 1931 to Irene Rose Fisher and Harold Winfield Fisher. His family later moved to the Miami area, and he graduated from Coral Gables High School in 1949. Bud then attended Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and participated in the 1954 College Baseball World Series. It was at Rollins College that Bud met the love of his life, Mary Ann Peters. They married in 1955. After college, Bud joined the Army. After being stationed in Norfolk, VA for two years, Bud and Mary Ann moved back to Winter Park, Fl to start their family and eventually settled in Columbus, GA to raise their four children. Bud had a long career with DSI and during his time there he earned many sales awards and accolades. Bud was an avid golfer and a charter member of the Green Island Country Club. In his free time, Bud enjoyed many hobbies like carpentry and art, but he was most passionate about travel. Bud and Mary Ann traveled the world together and were fortunate enough to have visited six continents.
Bud is preceded in death by his son Michael Fisher, sister Carol Ann Porterfield, son in law Dale Stone, and his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Ann; his three children Mark Fisher (Janie), Melanie Stone, and Mitchell “Chip” Fisher (Teri); his nine grandchildren Jenny Argo (Ben), Kadie Stone, Wayne Stone, Hannah Darden (Patrick), Harold “Trey” Winfield Fisher III, Mitchell Fisher (Emily), Matthew Tucker Fisher, Emma Hicks (Brad), and Sophia Fisher; and his five great grandchildren, Caroline Argo, Margaret Argo, Claire Darden, Luke Darden, and Hayden Fisher.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM (EST) on Saturday, February 01, 2025 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
