Helen Mae Hardy Morris, 77, of Dahlonega, GA and formally of Columbus, GA passed away late Friday night, June 26, 2015 at Northeast Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EDT Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 pm CDT Thursday afternoon at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville, AL. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City. Mrs. Morris was born April 19, 1938 in Lancaster PA, daughter of the late John Ervin Hardy, Sr. and Vada Maude Greer Hardy. She retired after 33 years with Civil Service at Fort Benning, GA and was a member of Britt David Baptist Church in Columbus, GA. She enjoyed church, gospel music, and spending time with family and friends. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Samuel Morris and her brother, John Ervin Hardy, Jr. She is survived by her children, Deborah Elaine Bennett of Sharpsburg, GA, Oscar Nelson (Butch) Bennett, Jr. and wife Denise of Thomasville, GA, John Raymond Bennett and wife Cristina of Dahlonega, GA, stepdaughters, Sharon Morris Sellers and Pamela Morris Carswell of Macon, GA; sister, Ruth Hardy Kerr of Trenton, MI, sister-in-law Phyllis Hardy of Peach Bottom, PA; nine grandchildren, Holley Carswell, Catherine Carswell, Michael Sellers, Matthew Sellers, Benjamin Sellers, Mary Jane Gillis, Jessica Bennett, Neil Bennett, Jarrod Anduha, Adriana Elena Carter, Daniel Pakkala, and Kristine Pakkala; several great grandchildren, numerous other loving family members, and many caring friends.
