Henry Theo Gipson

Henry Theo Gipson, 69, of Phenix City, AL passed away early Wednesday morning, August 15, 2018 in the comfort of his home while surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EST Saturday, August 18, 2018 Vance Memorial Chapel (Vance Brooks Funeral Home) in Phenix City with Pastor Danny Ryals officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.

Mr. Gipson was born October 10, 1948 in Houston County, AL to the late Thomas V. Gipson and Dellie Hughes Gipson.  He had worked in the Chattahoochee Valley community and Phenix City most of his life.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family deeply.  He enjoyed sharing special moments and spending quality time with all his family and especially all his grandchildren.  He enjoyed gardening, and fishing and hunting; he was a member of St. Mark Freewill Baptist in Phenix City.  Mr. Gipson was a man of great character.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Beatrice Slugger, Laura Kirkland, Stella Money, and Lacey Newsome, and three brothers, Ed Gipson, Tommy Gipson, and Lester Gipson.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Sondra Gail Welch Gipson of Phenix city, AL, two daughters, Terri Gipson Pilson and husband Robert of Columbus, GA, and Angila Gipson Smith and husband James Kimbler of Phenix City, AL; one sister, Louetta Moates of Bainbridge, GA, (6) grandchildren, Britteny Gipson, Nathan Gipson, Jessica Zethraus, Sierra Hall (Travis), Dakota Pilson, and Adriana Pilson, (3) great grandchildren, Destiney, Gabriel, and Cameron, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
