Hilton Lee Adams

Ret. SFC. Hilton Lee Adams, 71, of Columbus, GA, passed away peacefully at his residence Sunday morning December 8, 2013. Funeral services with full military honors will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 beginning at 1:00 P.M. EST at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home; 4048 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home. Hilton Lee Adams was born April 4, 1942, son of the late Archie D. Adams and Tressie Nettles Adams. He was retired from the U.S. Army, where he served his country honorably. Ret SFC Hilton Lee Adams served three tours during the Vietnam Era. Throughout his military career, Hilton received numerous medals and awards including the Bronze Star. Hilton had many hobbies and enjoyed collecting all sorts of things. Hilton had a special interest in building unique clocks; he loved the thrill of knowing that he built it every time he looked at it.

Other than his parents, Hilton is preceded in death by his sister, Grace Joner and his best friend, and loyal dog, Jody. Survivors include his loving wife of a wonderful 52 years, Barbara Ann Adams, Their three daughters, Tresa Phillips and husband Ben of Jacksonville, FL, Connie Lynn Woodruff and fiancAC.e Michael Padgett of Columbus, GA, Donna Woods and husband John of Amherst, NH; Brothers, Archie D. Adams of Newnan, GA, Ronald Adams and wife Jennie of Ocala, FL; Grandchildren, Rachel Preble, James Micha Jacola, Julie Ingram and FiancAC.e Ottis Brady, Eron Woods; Great-Grandchildren, Chase Woods, Cole Woods, Georgia Bradley, Macon Bradley, Payton Preble, Colton Preble, and Carson Preble. Hilton also leaves behind his devoted friend and favorite cat, Trouble. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations in honor of Hilton Adams be made to The American Heart Association, 1639 Bradley Park Drive, Ste. 500 Columbus, GA 31904
