Hollis Earl Blackshear, Sr

Hollis Earl Blackshear, Sr, 87 of Opelika, AL passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 in Columbus, GA. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, November 10, 2014 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with visitation 1 hour prior. The burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. Mr. Blackshear was born June 2, 1927 in Henry County, AL to the late John and Margaret Blackshear. He is a United States Navy Veteran of World War II serving his country for 38 and A½ months. He was retired from Southern Phenix Mills with over 32 years' service and was Baptist by faith. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Wynn Blackshear, son Rodney E. Blackshear, and brothers, James Curtis Blackshear and Wesley Blackshear. He is survived by two sons Hollis E. Blackshear, Jr and wife Peggy of Phenix City, AL and Micheal E. Blackshear of Opelika, AL; sister, Martha Jo Hasty of Columbia, AL; grandchildren, Christopher Blackshear and wife Kristen, Hollie G. Blackshear and Wil Blackshear; great-grandchildren, Coleton Adams and Katelyn Blackshear; numerous other family members and many caring friends.
