Homer Clayton “Skeeter” Thomas, Jr., 89, of Smiths Station, AL passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon at the Columbus Hospice House Midtown in Columbus, GA. Homer fought a good fight with his sickness and is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon EDT Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Rev. Skip Speed officiating. Interment with Military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday.
Mr. Thomas was born March 16, 1926 in Columbus, GA to the late Homer Clayton Thomas, Sr. and Nona Lurene Morgan Thomas. He retired as an independent accountant and also worked with B F Register Accounting in Columbus, GA. Mr. Thomas served our country as a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a former member of the Phenix City Moose Lodge and enjoyed square dancing, antiques, and collecting different odd items. He was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church in Smiths Station for 77 years.
He is survived by a sister, Doris Louise Batts of Perry, GA, brother, Max Lamar Thomas of Smiths Station, AL, nephew, Anthony “Tony” Batts and wife Debbie of Lizella, GA and a great nephew, Clayton Batts, his church family, and many caring friends.
