Homer Sidney “Sid” Floyd, 75, of Midland, GA died on Saturday, January 04, 2025, while at Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Columbus, GA with his family by his side.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 07, 2025, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA with Rev. Derrick Millirons officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Floyd was born January 27, 1949, in Phenix City, AL, son of the late Johnnie Leanton Floyd and Eunice Land Floyd. He was a U. S. Navy veteran who proudly served our country. After the Navy, he joined the workforce and worked as a machinist at Pratt Whitney, Columbus, GA. Sid was an avid model car collector and enjoyed playing golf with his buddies as often as they could get on the course. Shooting pool was his favorite pastime. We will remember him as a people person first and foremost. Sid never seemed to meet a stranger. He had the ability to put people at ease in his presence. We will miss him very much; however he will always be in our hearts and memories.
Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Eunice Floyd and a son, Joshua “Josh” Floyd.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Renfroe Floyd, Midland, GA; three children, Cindy Pankey (Charles), TX, Stan Sanders (Trina), Hurtsboro, AL and William “Bo” Sanders, Midland, GA; two sisters, Linda Wilson, Phenix City, AL and Bobbie Golden, Cusseta, GA; one brother, Phillip Floyd, Phenix City, AL; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
