Homer Joe Hedden

Homer Joe Hedden, 79, of Salem, AL passed away Monday morning, June 17, 2024, in the comfort of his home with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EDT on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Pastor Dewayne Dean officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 pm EDT at the funeral home in Phenix City.

Mr. Hedden was born August 23, 1944 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Rudolph F. Hedden and Beatrice Medley Hedden Timmons. He was employed as a maintenance technician with Lindsey Machinery. He was a man that enjoyed the simple things in life, tinkering and working on old cars, motorcycles, fishing, and passing time sitting in his rocking chair on the front porch. He was a huge fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and enjoyed cheering them on each football season. He was a Christian by faith and a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Victor “Jerold” Hedden, and two brothers, Jimmy David Hedden, and Johnny Hedden.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 18 years, Marshea Hedden; two daughters, Donna Janine Hedden Smith and husband Michael, and Brandy Joyce Hedden Meroney and husband Randy; one son, Jason Rudolph Hedden; three sisters, Judy Whitehead and husband James, Jennette Allen, and Janice Tharp and husband Mark; four brothers, Jackie Hedden and wife Doretha, Jeffery Hedden and wife Kristen, James Hedden, and Jerry Hedden; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many caring friends.

Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in loving memory of Mr. Homer Joe Hedden.
