Homer Richard Barbee, 86, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2016 in the comfort of his home while surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon EST Monday, February 8, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Dr. Wayne Scarborough officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Barbee was born January 16, 1930 in Phenix City, AL to the late Claude Franklin “Hoke” Barbee and Lottie Pearl Statham Barbee. He was a master cabinet maker with Barbee Fixture Company for 35 plus years. He enjoyed wood working, hunting, the outdoors, and family time. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and a Baptist by faith. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Rosalee JoAnn Conkle Barbee, his son, Richard Alan Barbee, and a brother, Raymond Barbee.
He is survived by one daughter, Beth Barbee Cook and husband Wade of Phenix City, AL, sisters, June Rice and husband Ronnie, and Ruth Ellis, all of Phenix City, AL, two grandchildren, Jeremy Cook and wife Tiffany, and Amanda Jones and husband Jeremy, three great grandchildren, Makenleigh Cook, Jaxson Cook, and Kyra Jones, and one on the way, several nieces and nephews, and numerous other loving family members, and many caring friends.
