Hozie Lee Barfield, Jr., 70, of Fortson, GA passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm EST Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Pastor Gerald Corbin officiating. A private interment will take place at Lovewood Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cottondale, FL. The family will receive friends on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, there will be a special family visitation beginning at 2:00 pm EST at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Lee was born February 14, 1946 in Cottondale, FL to the late Hozie Lee Barfield, Sr. and Annie Bell Groover Barfield. He was retired from Briggs and Stratton in Opelika and enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, swimming, and the outdoors. He was very humorous gentleman and was known as a prankster. He was a Baptist by faith. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Godwin Barfield.
He is survived by six sisters, Mary Ann Nordstrom of Florida, Thelma Etheredge of Eufaula, AL, Carolyn Hurst of Eufaula, AL, Anne Lee Shomper of Dawson, GA, Mildred Norris of Eufaula, AL, and Illabee Brown and husband Paul of Atlanta, GA, two brothers, D. Allen Barfield of Dawson, GA and John Barfield and wife Ann of Sasser, GA, and host of nieces and nephews.
