Hugh Forrest Slappey

Hugh Forrest Slappey, 86, of Phenix City, AL passed away late Saturday night, December 26, 2015 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EST Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Grant Parker officiating.  A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Slappey was born April 11, 1929 in Columbus, GA to the late James Buck Slappey and Ella Prince Slappey.  He was retired from the Civil Service with 37 ½ years of service.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army and a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Phenix City, AL.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Slappey Biggs, and Mary Brenda Slappey, and a brother, James Clifton Slappey.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Josephine Spivey Slappey, brother, Russell Slappey and wife Sue, sister-in-law, Brenda Slappey, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
