Iris Annette Lloyd, 87, of Pine Mountain Valley, GA passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at Community Chapel, 1626 GA-354, Pine Mountain Valley, GA, on Friday, February 11, 2022 beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ricky Lipp officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Community Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus. In keeping with efforts to control the spread of COVID-19, facemasks and social distancing will be encouraged.
Iris was born on September 7, 1934 in Columbus, GA to the late James Henry Cook and Ethel Wilkinson Cook. She was a beautiful woman with a heart of gold. Iris was a big fan of Alabama football and Braves baseball. She enjoyed listening to the Gaithers and going shopping. Throughout her life, Iris was dedicated to taking care of her family. With the birth of each child, grandchild and great-grandchild, she poured herself into those who were so very precious to her. Iris also deeply loved her church family at Community Chapel. She lived a life that truly reflected her relationship with the Lord, and her presence will be greatly missed by all whose hearts and lives she touched.
Other than her parents, Iris is preceded in death by her siblings Haywood Cook, Pete Cook, Evelyn Stripling McBride, Lewis Cook, Vivian Jones, Jerry Cook and Raymond Cook.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 68 years Donald “Don” Lloyd; son Tim Lloyd (Tricia) of Columbus, GA; daughters Shirley Booth (Mike) of Columbus, GA, Donna Lloyd of Pine Mountain Valley, GA and Cathy Lewis (Mark) of Rock Hill, SC; sister Barbara Eldridge; grandchildren Jeremy Lloyd (April), Jarrod Lloyd (Leanne), Leighanne Young, Brad Booth (Tabatha), Don Booth (Lindsay), Donna Marie Holcomb and Klent Etheridge; and 12 great-grandchildren.
