Jack Edward Cook

Jack Edward Cook, 70, of Smiths Station, AL passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, at his home in Smiths Station, AL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm EDT on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Wayne Ivey officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 pm EDT at the funeral home in Phenix City. Serving as pallbearers are Alex Bowman, Jeff Buckingham, Kenneth Horton, Greg Horton, Richard Hall, and Mike McManus.
Jack was born June 4, 1953, in Phenix City, AL, son of the late Carl E. Cook and Ethel Henderson Cook. He retired from Southern Phenix Textiles after many years of service. He loved family gatherings, food, and fellowship. In Jack’s younger years he enjoyed making wooden 57 Chevy mailboxes for many of his friends. He gifted his sister-in-law and her daughters with several pieces of cedar furniture he built. These included hope chests, bookshelves, pantry, curio, and numerous picture frames. He enjoyed taking care of his goats and fur babies. (Especially his fur baby Missy who misses him tremendously). You could count on Uncle Jack to have his sausage and cheese balls on Thanksgiving and Christmas or any time he just wanted to make some to share. On Saturdays you could find Jack at the flea market talking with friends. In his more recent years, you could find Jack out rolling through the neighborhood talking with neighbors (or strangers, it didn’t matter). He was a Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Debra Bartee Cook of Smiths Station, AL; sister, Bonnie Emory of Auburn, AL; brother, Wayne Cook and wife Lillie of Satsuma, AL; sister-in-law, Brenda Bartee Hudson, and husband Rev. Mark Hudson of Smiths Station, AL; nieces, Jessica Hudson Coleman (Charlie), Jenny Hudson, Christy Lane, and Rosalind Robinson; nephew, Charles Cook; numerous extended loving family members, and many caring friends.
