Jack Lyman Green, Sr., CSM U.S Army (Ret), 80, of Columbus, GA passed away Wednesday, September 06, 2017 at his residence in Columbus, GA. A celebration of life will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Saturday, September 09, 2017 beginning at 2:00 P.M. EST with Minister Marvina Lilly officiating.
Mr. Green was born September 7, 1936 in Bolivar, NY and was the ninth child of the late William David and Alma Green.
Mr. Green retired from the U.S. Army in 1977 as a Command Sergeant Major and had been appointed as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserves at the direction of the President of the United States. Later, in 1998, he again retired from his position as purchasing manager for Callaway Chemical Company, Exxon and Vulcan Material Company.
Other than his parents, Mr. Green is predeceased by 10 siblings and many other relatives and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Ann Green; two sons: Jack Lyman Green, Jr and Kendall W. Barbour and wife, Amy; Three grandchildren: Addison Barbour, Stacey Woodell and Jake Green; three great grandchildren: Skyler Woodell, Landon and Hayden Green; a sister: Sally Garcia; Two sisters-in-law: Sally and Jeanie Green of PA; and many nephews and nieces.
