JACK THOMAS BRINKLEY, JR.
With deep sadness the family of Jack Thomas Brinkley, Jr. announces his death. The family takes great pride in the valiant battle with pancreatic cancer fought by Jack and his dearly beloved Stacy in what was to be a year long struggle. He was very proud to be pronounced cancer-free. Sadly, he passed away suddenly from a complication three weeks later.
He was an honor graduate of both Columbus State University and the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, and he was a Latin scholar. He was admitted to practice in state and federal courts, and his practice with Brinkley Law Offices reached out to many jurisdictions in Georgia and beyond. Professionally he was a champion of the underdog, and he was known for undertaking the hard cases which might otherwise go unrepresented.
As a youngster he was an all-star baseball pitcher along with his brother Fred in the Babe Ruth Eastern Columbus league, and he was a graduate of Hardaway high school. During college he worked for the legendary Kirven’s and was famous for his gift wrapping skills at Christmas and the announcements he would make over the public address system. Even then he had honey in his voice.
He served as a page in both the General Assembly of Georgia and the House of Representatives in Washington, D. C.
He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Lois Kite Brinkley, and he is survived by his father, former congressman Jack Brinkley and his wife Sallye Posey Brinkley. He was a devoted husband survived by his beloved wife, Stacy Smith Brinkley. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and gave all of himself to his family, Jack Thomas Brinkley III, wife Alice, children Camille, Bjorn, Scarlett; Matthew James, wife Lindsay, child Camden; Victoria Wynn; Maryelle Lois, children Eric Jr., Jack-Jack; Abbigail Kate and child Loralei; Fredrick Troy; Grantham Kite; and Beatrice Blys. He is also survived by his brother, Fred Alen Brinkley, wife Patricia, children and grandchildren, Christopher, Cheney, Blane, Julia, Amelia, Brie.
