James Ashford Wilkerson

James Ashford Wilkerson, 81, of Seale, AL died on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Piedmont Midtown, Columbus, GA.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Bob Hawkins officiating. The visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Wilkerson was born January 18, 1942, in Holt, Florida. He was the son of the late Ralph Wilkerson and Annie Lee Odom Wilkerson. He had retired from Motors, Pumps and Gears as a Parts Manager. He loved to squirrel hunt with his Jack Russell- Terriers, Bandino and Willow. He also raised Jack Russell-Terrier puppies. In his earlier days he taught his daughters how to swim and water ski.
Mr. Wilkerson later in his life accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. This made a profound change in him and he told everyone that they needed to know the Master and witnessed to all that he met.
Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph, and Annie Lee Wilkerson; his wife, Barbara Wilkerson, the mother of his children, Josephine Hudson Shipes and three brothers, Jay Hugh Wilkerson, Millard Wilkerson, and Mack Wilkerson and three sisters, Betty Holt, Eleanor Burdick, and Edna Boland.
Survivors include his three daughters, Teresa Wiggins (Robert), Fortson, GA, Tammy Wilkerson of Dothan, AL, and Tina Dykes (Jon) of Newville, AL; three stepdaughters, Melissa Waldman, Lisa Lemons, and Michelle “Shelly” Scrushy; one stepson, Michael Goskie; several grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; special friend, Doris Mauldin; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
