James C. (“Jim”) Pittman, Sr., 96, of Smiths Station, AL passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at his home. Jim proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy and was an area home builder for about 55 years.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am EST on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 12 Price Road, Phenix City, AL, with Rev. Grant Parker officiating. Mr. Pittman and his wife, Mary Greene Pittman, have been members of Epworth for many years. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Jim Pittman was born November 6, 1921 in Pike County, AL, son of the late Horace Fox Pittman and Bessie Sue Dykes Pittman. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Along with his loving wife Mary, Jim is survived by James C. (Wynell) Pittman, Jr. of Statesville, NC; Margie (Publio) Sance` of Suwanee, GA; Fred Pittman of Marietta, GA; Keith (Carol) Pittman of Avondale Estates, GA; Nancy (Rick) Ayella of Columbia, MD; Bonnie (Greg) Childers of Peachtree City, GA; Paul (Stefanie) Greene of Phenix City, AL; Lenita (Charles) Edwards of Phenix City, AL; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and caring friends.
