James Donald “Don” Eyles, 90, of Phenix City, AL passed away early Friday morning, August 3, 2018, in the comfort of his home in Phenix City while surrounded by his loving family.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm EDT Sunday at Trinity United Methodist. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 3:00 pm at Trinity with Rev. Bruce Johnson and Rev. David Hendrix officiating. Private interment with Military Honors will be held Monday at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City.
Mr. Eyles was born November 2, 1927 in Phenix City, AL to the late Joseph William Eyles and Venice Stout Eyles. He proudly retired from Georgia Power with 44 years of loyal service. He was a member of the Ambassador’s Club. As a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist, he taught Sunday School and supported many of the church’s outreach programs. He served our country with honor and was a WWII Veteran of United States Army. Mr. Eyles enjoyed wood-working, reading, fishing, and all kinds of music. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lola Ming Eyles, two sisters, Edna Plas, and Elizabeth Eyles, and one brother, Joe Eyles.
He is survived by his children, Alan Eyles, Joe Eyles (Vicki), Gena Eyles Pappas (Chris), and Eileen Eyles Lynch (Ray); (8) grandchildren: Jonathan Eyles (Heather), Whit Hard (Lacey), Zachary Eyles (Nancy), Cameron Hard (Marisol),Nicholas Eyles, Travis Lynch (Sara), Haley Hard, Patrick Lynch(fiancé Marianna) and (3) great-grandchildren, Elijah, Rebekah, and Luke.
