James Thomas Duncan, Sr., 76, of Valley, AL died peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 18, 2024 with his family by his side.
A Memorial Visitation with U. S. Army honors will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm EST at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. A private interment will be held at a later date.
Mr. Duncan was born January 17, 1948 in Etowah County, AL son of the late Ira Willard Duncan and Laura Evelyn Maxwell Duncan. He was a U. S. Army veteran proudly serving our country. After his service to our country, he joined the work force and retired from Continental Can as a Machine Operator after 20 years. He was a busy and outgoing man making friends wherever he went. Mr. Duncan also worked for a period of time with Life of Virgina, and he also had his own lawn care service, J.T’s Lawn Service from 1993 until 2003. Mr. Duncan had a permeant table at the Lee County Flea market where he sold surplus military items and various other items. We think this was just an excuse to get out of the house and socialize. He also was an avid beekeeper, hunter and fisherman. He will be missed by his family and friends, but always fondly remembered for his bright personality and stable ways.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Cecelia E. Murray Duncan, Valley, AL; three daughters, Randi Tate, Evelyn Duncan and Mary Ann Zang; two sons, James T. Duncan, Jr. and David White; two siblings, Nancy Cameron (Danny) and Steve Duncan; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
