James Edwin Stapler, 76, of Opelika, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am EST, on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home Chapel, located at 3738 Highway 431 North Phenix City, AL, with his son Ricky Stapler, speaking. Interment will follow at Corinth Cemetery located at 125 Miller Road, Hogansville, GA. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm EST at the funeral home. The family is requesting friends who prefer, to ride their motorcycles to the service for the procession to Hogansville, GA.
Mr. Stapler was born in Tifton, GA the son of the late Robert David Stapler and Mary Alice Redden. James was raised from a young child by his “mother” Margie Stapler. James enjoyed cooking for his family, especially homemade divinity, chocolate fudge and banana pudding. He was a self-taught master mechanic and could repair anything. One of his favorite things to do was debate anything with anybody. But most of all, he enjoyed his family and spending time with them.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stapler was preceded in death by one brother Jimmy Dwayne Stapler.
Left to cherish his memory are four sons Ray Stapler (Charlene) of Phenix City, AL, Ricky Stapler (Brenda) Smiths Station, AL, Wayne Stapler (Pam) of Newnan, GA and Michael Stapler (Kay) of Phenix City, AL; one brother Larry Stapler (Pat) of Opelika, AL; one niece Lori Creel (Adam); eight grandchildren; two special great grandchildren, several extended family members and close friends.
